Trauma

A traumatic life event can bring up feelings such as anger, sadness, confusion, shock, irritability, fear, and guilt that make it difficult for someone to function the way they used to. Everyone’s experience with trauma is fundamentally different, from how clearly it shows to how severely symptoms present themselves—making it that much harder for those suffering to get the help they need, be it professionally or from their loved ones.

The process of healing from trauma can be painful and difficult to start, so I strive to give you a space where you can discuss your trauma without feeling pressured or pushed into sharing anything you’re not comfortable with. That way, you can build resilience and take back your life at your own pace and on your own terms.

The Approach

I’ll help you take control of the negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors brought on by your trauma at the level of depth you’re comfortable with.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

People who experience trauma often normalize the negative thoughts they have surrounding it, not realizing that those thoughts are making it difficult to heal. I'll help you identify and reframe these thoughts with CBT to show you that your trauma does not need to have power over you.

Narrative Therapy

Narrative Therapy allows for a deeper level of processing and the opportunity to recount your story which can often lead to feelings of empowerment and freedom. The narrative can be shifted from “this happened to me” to “I overcame this”, creating relief and empowerment over that trauma and reminding you of how resilient you are and have always been.
