Chronic Illness
I understand that chronic illnesses such as disease, pain, and sleep disorders are as mentally debilitating as they are physically. The feeling of a constant uphill battle and lack of control over what is happening to your body takes a tremendous toll, but learning to live with and overcome these burdens is possible.
If the weight of your condition feels overwhelming for you and your family to manage alone, I'm here to provide the support you deserve. THRIVE will offer a space to acknowledge how far you've come and help you develop strategies to manage your illness without letting it define or overwhelm you.
The Approach
I’ll teach you how to take the power away from the negative emotions your illness causes and put that power back into your hands.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
It can be easy to focus on the negatives chronic illness brings, so I work with patients on identifying what they can do and giving more power to what is in their control. CBT helps assist you in focusing on what is in your control rather than what isn't.

Strength-Based Therapy
Recognizing your strengths and giving them the love and attention they deserve is key to strength-based therapy and is used to remind patients of how far they have come. Battling a chronic medical condition takes strength which must be harnessed to overcome both mental and physical barriers, making space for positive actions to emerge.

Narrative Therapy
The dissonance between what you’re hearing from your doctors and how you actually feel can be difficult to reconcile. Narrative therapy is used to help you process your chronic illness and take autonomy over your experience with it by telling your medical story through your eyes.
